Smart Metering is a new service designed to solve the widely recognised cash-flow headache of estimated electricity bills.
It enables SMEs to take advantage of all the benefits of expensive fixed communication-line metering, but at a fraction of the cost.

Smart meters are available to purchase or lease and for many the new Smart Meter will cost the same as traditional metering.  One type uses a SIM card to read real-time consumption date, which is available to view on line.
Others use GPS technology to send data.  This information is transferred to various spreadsheets that can build up a highly accurate pattern of usage. (For example, identifying the cost of night usage electricity).  The spreadsheet can be used to identify further opportunities for cutting energy wastage, with even small adjustments to power usage making potentially large savings on the amount and cost of energy used…more important than ever now that energy prices are rising.

In addition it is now possible to link Gas and Water usage to certain Smart Meters, giving a complete analysis of Utility consumption patterns.
